“HMS Ark Royal 1941 Sinking in the Mediterranean sea Nov .14 1941 taken by my father, a Marine on board HMS Malaya. Only one fatality ocurred during this incident, that of Able Seaman Mitchell who was killed at the time the ship was hit by the torpedo. All other hands were saved. Many of the 1,487 survivors being taken on to HMS Legion who can be seen attending the Ark Royal in this set.” -Pining for the Fjords
